We visited the Alaska Raptor Center. It is the only one in Alaska and they
help all injured raptors. The birds are flown in from all over including the
lower 48. This is a permanent resident. Her name is Sunset. She was found at
that time of the day beneath a powerline near her nest when she was 4 months
old. She cannot be released because her wing was severed at the wrist. However,
they do have a successful program here. They rehabilitate and release 70% of
the eagles, hawks, and owls that they serve.
