This yellow plant is skunk cabbage. Yes, when blooming it smells just like
a skunk. Local natives do not eat it unless during famine. I guess it can tear
up your intestines, however, the bears eat it after hibernation to clean out
there systems. They eat rocks and mud before hibernation and this undoes the
job when they wake up.
