The rain forest is dense and very lush with moss, lichens and trees. It was
misty but not raining. The cedar trees here are 500 to 750 years old. There
are a few which are 1000 years old. This is a devastation zone, probably from
a wind storm. The tree has toppled and its exposed root system and trunk provides
a basis for new life. I'm sure it takes many, many years to decay.
